A renovation of a charming commercial building in Melbourne, respecting and preserving the building’s uniquely detailed façade and features from a bygone era.

Surprisingly, this charming building, formerly R Gough Motors, was not heritage listed. Although used as an automotive garage in past, it was important to respect and preserve this building’s uniquely detailed façade and it’s features from the bygone era for the future generations.

IDEA Constructions created a commercial space ready to be fitted-out by our client’s chosen tenant.

This has been achieved by:

Sandblasted stripping of many layers of internal and external paintwork
Demolition of the back part of the building (as per approved plans)
Excavation of the existing floor and replacing it with a new concrete finish floor
Installation of new commercial windows and doors
For additional lighting, six new Velux skylights were installed
Replaced old roof with new COLORBOND steel roofing
Repointed large section of brick walls
Installed a new sewer system
Installed disability bathroom and toilet facility
